UNIBEN Postgraduate Admission Requirements 2024/2025
To apply for postgraduate study at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), you must follow these rules:
- You must have at least five (5) credit passes in WASSCE, NECO, GCE, or any exam like that. The credits must include English and Mathematics.
- If you have only four (4) credits, you must also have OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB, A-Level, or any other similar certificate.
- If you got only a pass in your degree or diploma, you cannot apply for postgraduate study.
- If you got a third-class degree, you must first complete a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) before you can apply for a Master’s course.
- If you have a Master’s degree and your average score is between 55% and 59%, you can only apply for an M.Phil. program first.
- If you want to apply for a Ph.D. program, you must have at least 60% average score in your Master’s degree.
- If you did your Master’s in another school and you didn’t do some courses that UNIBEN students did, you must take those courses and score at least 60% after getting admission.
- You must show your NYSC certificate, or a letter of exemption or exclusion, before you can be cleared for the program.
- You must download and fill the referee form on the school website. The people you choose as referees must send the forms directly to the Secretary of the School of Postgraduate Studies.
- Your application will not be accepted until your referee forms are received by the school.
