The National Examinations Council (NECO) has shared the full timetable for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for students in JSS 3.

NECO has said that the 2025 BECE exams will start on Monday, May 12, 2025, and will end on Friday, May 23, 2025.

2025 NECO BECE Exam Timetable for JSS 3

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is for students who are finishing Junior Secondary School (JSS 3). This exam helps students move from JSS 3 to Senior Secondary School (SSS 1).

The full exam timetable for 2025 BECE (also called Junior WAEC) is now ready. It shows all the subjects, dates, and times for each exam paper.

    • Christian Religious Studies Paper 1 will start at 10:00 am and end at 11:00 am.

    • English Studies Paper 1 will be from 10:00 am to 11:20 am.

    • English Studies Essay Paper 3 will be from 2:30 pm to 3:15 pm.
    • Business Studies Paper 1 will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

    • Language Paper 1 for Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Efik, and Ibibio will be from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
    • Language Paper 2 for Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Efik, and Ibibio will be from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
  5. Friday 16 May
    • Language Paper 1 for Hausa L2, Igbo L2, and Yoruba L2 will be from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
    • National Values Education Paper 1 will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
    • National Values Education Paper 2 will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon.

    • Business Studies Practical Paper 3 will be from 10:00 am to 10:20 am.
  7. Monday 19 May

  9. Wednesday 21 May
    • Mathematics Paper 1 will be from 10:00 am to 11:20 am.
    • Mathematics Paper 2 will be from 11:20 am to 12:40 pm.
    • Mathematics Essay Paper 3 will be from 2:30 pm to 3:10 pm.
  10. Thursday 22 May
    • Basic Science and Technology Computer Practical (Paper 3) will be from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.
  11. Friday 23 May
    • Pre-Vocational Studies Paper 1 will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
    • Pre-Vocational Studies Paper 2 will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Important Notes for All Schools and Students

Extra Time for Some Students: Albino and blind students will get 30 minutes more in every subject.
Blind students must use the Braille sheet given by NECO for their exam.

ID Card is Needed: Every student must bring their photocard to the exam hall. It is compulsory for identification.

Do Not Bring These Items: Students must not bring any electronic or smart items. These include:

  • Calculators that can be programmed
  • Mobile phones
  • iPads and tablets
  • Smart watches or smart glasses
  • Smart pens or similar items

These items are not allowed inside the exam hall.

For Practical Subjects: Subjects like Business Studies and Basic Science and Technology must be done in groups if there are many students and not enough equipment. All practical exams must end before 5:00 pm. You can use computers for Business Studies.

Time to Follow: If the time on the question paper is not the same as the timetable, students must follow the time on the question paper.
