Edo State University Postgraduate Admission Requirements 2024/2025

General Requirements
Every candidate must meet these basic conditions before applying for any postgraduate program:
- Must have at least five (5) credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB, or any similar exam. These credits should not be more than two sittings.
- Must have a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or an exemption letter.
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Requirements
To apply for a PGD program, a candidate must have one of the following:

- A Second Class Lower Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- A Postgraduate Diploma with credit level in a related course.
- Any recognized professional qualification equivalent to the above.
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Requirements
Candidates applying for an M.Phil. must have:
- A Master’s degree with at least 50% (CGPA of 3.0 on a 5-point scale).
PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) Requirements
To apply for a PhD, a candidate must have:
- A Master’s degree with at least 60% (CGPA of 4.0 on a 5-point scale).
- If the CGPA is between 55% and 59% (or at least 3.5 on a 5-point scale), the candidate may first register for M.Phil./Ph.D. before moving to PhD. The university may ask them to take extra courses.
- PhD candidates must submit a research proposal (maximum of 450 words) along with their application.
