National Open University Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Programs

To get admission into an undergraduate program at NOUN, candidates must meet these requirements:

  • O’ Level Results: Applicants must have at least five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language. Some courses may also require Mathematics. These results should be from not more than two sittings.
  • UTME Requirement: Candidates must have a valid UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) score. NOUN does not conduct separate entrance exams, but students should check if their chosen course has specific UTME subject requirements.
  • Direct Entry: Applicants who want to enter through direct entry must have additional qualifications like A-Level, National Diploma (ND), or other related professional certificates.

Postgraduate Programs

The admission requirements for NOUN postgraduate programs are as follows:

  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): Candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree from NOUN or any recognized university in a related field. A minimum pass is required.
  • Master’s Degree: To apply for a master’s program, students must have a bachelor’s degree with at least a second-class lower division. Work experience in a related field may be an advantage.
